Sign-Up Bonus

The sign-up bonus for new Capital One Quicksilver cardmembers is unarguably excellent. You earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. This is basically the same as getting a 40% discount on a $500 purchase. Neat!

You also get a 0% introductory APR for 15 months. This is great if you’re planning on making a big purchase soon. Why? Because you can make monthly payments without having to pay any interest as long as you pay at least the minimum payment due, and finish paying off the entire balance within the first 15 months of having the card.

Benefits

Unlimited Cash Back

You earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase you make with the Capital One Quicksilver card. Plain and simple.

Cards like this are nice because you don’t have to worry about remembering to activate different categories each quarter like with some other cash back credit cards.

Other notable benefits about this card are that cash back does not expire as long as the account is open, and there is no minimum redemption amount. In other words, you can redeem cash back for any amount at any time.

No Fees

Some credit cards require you to pay an annual fee, but the Capital One Quicksilver card is not one of them. No annual fee here!

Similarly, if you’re transferring a balance from another credit card to the Capital One Quicksilver card, you will not have to pay a balance transfer fee.

And lastly, the Capital One Quicksilver card has no foreign transaction fee. This means you never have to pay extra when making purchases with this card outside of the United States.

Drawbacks

Although there is nothing inherently bad to say about this card, there are better cash back alternatives out there, such as the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, which provides a few extra benefits in addition to those offered by the Capital One Quicksilver card.

Final Verdict

The simplicity, benefits, and lack of fees make the Capital One Quicksilver credit card worth considering, but you could get more bang for your buck with a different card.

This card probably makes more sense to apply for if you already have a more feature-packed cash back credit card but are looking for a card with a great sign-up bonus.

You can apply for the Capital One Quicksilver cash back credit card on Capital One’s website.
